چکیده

In previous work, we proved a result on the equivariant Fitting ideal of the `-adic realization of the Picard 1-motive attached to an abelian covering of curves defined over a finite field. In this paper, we build upon this work to deduce results on the equivariant Fitting ideal of the Tate modules of the Jacobian of the top curve, and on the equivariant Fitting ideal of the (dual of the) degree zero class group of the top curve. At the end, we discuss refinements of Brumer’s conjecture and consider examples.

THE GALOIS MODULE STRUCTURE OF l–ADIC REALIZATIONS OF PICARD 1–MOTIVES AND APPLICATIONS

Let Z −→ Z be a G–Galois cover of smooth, projective curves over an arbitrary algebraically closed field κ, and let S and T be G–equivariant, disjoint, finite, non-empty sets of closed points on Z, such that S contains the ramification locus of the cover. In this context, we prove that the l–adic realizations Tl(MS,T ) of the Picard 1–motive MS,T associated to the data (Z, κ,S,T ) are G–cohomol...

THE REFINED COATES–SINNOTT CONJECTURE FOR CHARACTERISTIC p GLOBAL FIELDS

This article is concerned with proving a refined function field analogue of the Coates-Sinnott conjecture, formulated in the number field context in 1974. Our main theorem calculates the Fitting ideal of a certain even Quillen K-group in terms of special values of L-functions. The techniques employed are directly inspired by recent work of Greither and Popescu in the equivariant Iwasawa theory ...

LetX be an n-dimensional algebraic variety over a field of characteristic zero. We describe algebraically defined Deligne 1-motives Alb(X), Alb−(X), Pic(X) and Pic−(X) which generalize the classical Albanese and Picard varieties of a smooth projective variety. We compute Hodge, l-adic and De Rham realizations proving Deligne’s conjecture for H, H2n−1, H 1 and H1. We investigate functoriality, u...

Extensions of Strictly Commutative Picard Stacks

Let S be a site. We introduce the notion of extension of strictly commutative Picard S-stacks. Applying this notion to 1-motives, we get the notion of extension of 1-motives and we prove the following conjecture of Deligne: if MRZ(k) denotes the integral version of the neutral Tannakian category of mixed realizations over an algebraically closed field k, then the subcategory of MRZ(k) generated...

Computing Residue Class Rings and Picard Groups of Orders

Let K be a a global field and O be an order of K. We develop algorithms for the computation of the unit group of residue class rings for ideals in O. As an application we show how to compute the unit group and the Picard group of O provided that we are able to compute the unit group and class group of the maximal order e O of K.
